Case Report: Neglected case of duodenal strongyloidiasis in an immunocompromised patient

Strongyloides stercoralis, one of the common opportunistic parasitic infections, affects a large population in many parts tropical and subtropical regions is often a neglected disease. The parasite completes its life cycle inside human host with unique feature autoinfection, persisting indefinitely dormant form having notorious ability to cause fetal complications an immunocompromised individual. Many factors like corticosteroid therapy, immunosuppressive therapy for autoimmune diseases, T lymphotropic virus, malignancy, malnutrition etc. can transform asymptomatic strongyloidiasis fatal outcomes, from hyperinfection syndrome dissemination leading increased risk high mortality rates. It has been screening unless until some clinical suspicion appeared during course treatment. Early diagnosis treatment mitigate rapid disease activation evolution patient. Our case involved 50-year-old female on cyclophosphane systemic lupus erythematous (SLE) who experienced repeated bouts vomiting loose stools.
